Regulated profession

Medicine is a regulated profession. In France, practice is governed by the public health code and by the code of medical ethics, articles R.4127-1 to R.4127-112, and comes under the Conseil national de l’Ordre des médecins. In Dubai, it comes under the Dubai Health Authority.

This site is a scientific journal. It offers no consultation, gives no personalised medical advice, and is not a canvassing medium.

Nature of the content

The analyses published here address health professionals and informed readers. They deal with the scientific literature and with practice guidelines, which they appraise rather than summarise.

No content on this site replaces medical advice. A critical appraisal, a decision tree or a simulator dispenses neither with the clinical examination, nor with the guidelines in force, nor with the judgement of the doctor who takes the decision. The detailed terms of use are on the Disclaimer page.

Content is dated. Science moves, and an analysis that is right in 2026 may be out of date two years later. The publication date appears on every page.

Intellectual property

The texts, the analyses, the decision trees, the guideline appraisals, the simulators, the illustrations and the visual identity of the site are original works protected by the French intellectual property code. Reproducing or reusing them, in whole or in part, requires prior written permission.

Two uses do not:

  • short quotation, provided that Psychiatry Evidence Base is named and that a link points back to the original page;
  • private use, for your own practice, without redistribution.

Extracts from institutional guidelines quoted in the decision trees and in the appraisals remain the property of their authors, NICE, HAS, ANSM and the others. They are reproduced under short quotation, always with their source and their date. Bibliographic references point to the publishers, who keep their rights in the articles.

If you consider that a piece of content infringes your rights, write to the contact address. The request will be dealt with without delay.

Links to other sites

The site links out to external sources: bibliographic databases, health agencies, scientific publishers. Those links serve verification, they do not amount to approval of the rest of the site linked to. The publisher has no control over their content and does not answer for it.

Funding and declared interests

The site carries no advertising and engages in no product placement. It receives no funding from the pharmaceutical industry or from medical device manufacturers. No content is commissioned or reviewed by a third party before publication.

Where an analysis concerns a product in which the author would have a declared interest, that interest is stated on the page concerned. The conflicts of interest of the authors of the studies analysed are, for their part, systematically examined in the critical appraisal.

Reporting an error

A wrong figure, a misattributed reference, a quotation that does not say what the source says: these are the most serious faults a journal of this kind can commit. Report them to contact@psychiatryevidencebase.com. The correction is made and dated on the page concerned.

Personal data

Data processing is described on a dedicated page: privacy policy. In short, the site asks for nothing, opens no account and places no audience measurement tracker.

Applicable law

This notice is governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, and failing an amicable settlement, the French courts have jurisdiction.
